Actually replaying FF5 for the first time since, like, March of 2001. It's a lot more fun than I remembered! All those classes that you're used to sucking in other games are actually frighteningly useful.

What I mean is that Bartz just killed an entire screen of enemies with a swarm of bees.

Hee! I'd forgotten about that.

Faris totally makes the game for me. She is pure distilled awesome.

I like the whole party, really. Even little Krile blasted a hole in a wall and zapped king Tycoon in the face.

I haven't played in in a while (five years?), but what I remember most is Faris was a badass and Bartz was a total moron. ;D

Lenna was Reina (silly PS1 translation) and her dragon! Eee, her dragon. Galuf was pretty cool, and Krile was pretty much adorable. Talking to the moogles for the win!

Oh, and Boko. And Koko. ^^

I'm pretty sure Lenna shares a name with Lenne (X-2) and Queen Leene (Chrono Trigger), but romanization always comes out weird.

I love how excited Bartz gets over leveling up his piano skills.

Oh, I'm sure the Lenna name is far more accurate -- what with the injokes and references and homages and expys and the like that SquareEnix likes to throw in their games.

But the PS1 translation was pretty so-so from what I recall, anyway. It doesn't entirely surprise me that Lenna became Reina. And poor Krile... her name's been romanized entirely too many ways. @_@

Bartz is easily excited. It's adorable. Also, his devotion to Boko. It's a good thing it's cute!

It's really sad to see how poorly implemented Blue Mage and Beastmaster skills were in VI ... and the rest of the series, really.

God, yes. Strago's magic stat was too low to be an effective mage and Sketch/Control just plain sucked. FF5 and FF9 were what made me love blue mages.

Amusing blue mage fact: In FF11, one of the blue magic spells is called Eyes On Me.

And then what the hell is with 8 and 10 only letting you use Blue Mage skills for your Limit Break :\ I did get good use out of Lvl 5 Death in 9, at least.

Hee! If I had the cash and the patience to deal with PUGs I would play XI.

Argh, forgot about how annoying that was. -_(\ I don't remember 9 (been too long since I've played it), but L5 Death is awesome in 5 for ABP grinding.

Well, there is a free, two week trial and there's been a lot of changes to make it easier to solo. I'm level 23 on blue mage and I've spent 90% or more of that time soloing. Join ussssss. :D

All the enemies in Kuja's palace are level 30, making the whole "oh noes Garnet can't use her voice" portion trivial if you have Quina in your party (and you took a detour to learn Lvl 5 Death). Grand Dragons are level 50, so it also makes for a quick way to level up on Disc 3.

My sad sad lack of money prevents me. Watch me come into gainful employment and good credit just in time for XIV to hit.

I had fun maxing out dragoon and ninja (i think) so i could dual wield spears and jump constantly. ya know the enemies cant hit ya when they can't target you :)

Blood spears (or vampire spears cant remember the name) were really good for this cuz you were always healed

yeah it took awhile but it was totally worth it. The monsters would glitch with targeting if all your characters were in the air when the command got entered and wouldn't hit even if they landed. The only way to get hit was to have the same character down when the monster's command was imputed by the computer and when the command was executed.

If FF5 ever gets a proper remake/port ala FF4 (either GBA or DS style) I will give it one more try.

The only thing I can say about the game is that I love the job system. I just never played far enough to attach to any of the characters.

5 has a GBA port with a superior translation, new classes and extra dungeons and all that, which is what I'm playing right now o/!

The developer who worked on FFIII and IV DS remakes seems to be working on Four Warriors of Light: Final Fantasy Gaiden right now, so if we're getting V and VI remakes they're far on the horizon :(

Blue Mage ftw. If only for the costume and the awesome casting animation. I mostly just got the Learn ability and forgot that it existed after that. I should really take the Beastmaster class more seriously, haha. It's pretty decent, isn't it?

The GBA version's a lot of fun, though! Especially the four extra classes. Cannoneer and Gladiator are so ridiculously broken, too XD IMO, the way they did this one's post game dungeon makes it the best out of the GBA ports. Especially the last bonus boss. S-so epic.

Beeeees were from the Ranger's animals ability. Mind you, most of the time I get squirrels who do 0 damage, but it's a fun ability to tool around with when you're grinding.

I did abuse Control to heal my party in the Ronka Ruins, though.
